Under the patronage of International Council of Museums (ICOM), UNESCO (Croatian Commission), EUROPA NOSTRA, ICOMOS - Invitation to International heritage forum "The Best in Heritage"

Heritage Excellence in Dubrovnik
16-18(21) Sept 2004.

"The Best in Heritage" is the only world's annual presentation of the awarded professional achievements in museums and heritage demonstrating the highest standards of excellence in the heritage field.

Like any other profession, ours has its class of achievers: the most creative and hardest working among us! They are the best and most experienced. Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could meet them, socialise with them, talk to them- and listen to the detailed stories of their success? The key word is excellence and the right ambition is how to attain it.

There seemed to be a need for a time and place where the outstanding qualities of the national and international prize winners of these awards could be regularly presented and shared. Every September, the participants are able to meet the best, talk to the winners, ask them personally about their success with their fellow professionals in juries, with media or their public and stakeholders.

Their experiences provide practical educational value-an example to learn from or be inspired by the changes envisaged, planned or realised. The cross fertilization between the different experiences of museums, heritage and conservation projects is itself an inspiring revelation. Twenty-five projects from all over the world attracted last year well over hundred professionals from 27 countries. The best professional information, excellent social life and attractive environment make the event a rather unique experience.

To underline the similar theoretical framework we have added two days of International forum for heritage studies "Heritologia". The meeting is meant to be a unique think tank and discussion opportunity for the top theoreticians and practitioners. Their themes are innovation and alternative practices. The aim is that the event becomes the place where the present is revealed and future forged.
