access.museophile.net .museum website accessibility service
By jonathan, Section Museophile
Posted on Tue Jan 27th, 2004 at 11:11:49 PM GMT
Owners of .museum domain websites may be interested in the access.museophile.net website, dedicate to aid accessibility to museum-related websites for disabled users. This website allows access to selected museum-related websites using a text-only filter based on the Betsie tool to aid the partially sighted and blind web users. The size, color and font of text is selectable at the bottom of each page. In particular, any museum with a .museum domain name can use this service. Just use a link such as http://access.museophile.net/x.y.museum as a web address where x and y are for a specific museum. Look under access.museophile.net/index.museum for a directory of registered museums, including links where websites exist. Any museum with a .museum domain website is welcome to use this service by adding a suitable link such as

<a href="http://access.museophile.net/x.y.museum">Text only</a>

It is recommended that such a link is put at the beginning of the home page so that it is easily found by blind and partially sighted users.

Please let me know if you decide to use the accessibility service by sending the web address concerned. Comments are welcome.
