Virtual exhibitions using new technology
By lizakarim, Section Museums
Posted on Sat Mar 19th, 2005 at 12:30:47 AM GMT
I am a BSc computing science student as my final year project I am researching into virtual exhibitions and the us of new technologies at museums.

I would be very grateful if anyone could suggest any useful links, books.

Thank you.

My particular interest areas are: the history of virtual exhibitions; the first virtual exhibition held at a museum; the effect of virtual exhibitions on the society.

If anyone has any suggestions, please do help.

My name is Kostas Chrysochoides and I am pleased to present to Museophile a new museum directory for Greece.

Greece Museums was launched about one month ago and currently contains information for 108 Greek museums.

We are doing our best to ensure that more detailed information and photos will be added regularly. Since we are not professionals, we would appreciate your feedback, comments and suggestions for our website. Greetings All!

Gender Issues and Museum Websites - request for information
By jonathan, Section Discussion
Posted on Sun Dec 5th, 2004 at 11:46:45 PM GMT
A one-hour profession forum session on "Gender Issues and Museum Websites" is planned for the next Museums and the Web conference (Vancouver, Canada, 13-16 April 2005 - see www.archimuse.com/mw2005). A number of position statements are in preparation. We are seeking information on examples of good (and perhaps bad!) museum/cultural websites relevant to and about gender issues, or any other information that might be relevant (e.g., what specific issues should be discussed in the forum?). Currently we are planning to cover a number of different languages, cultural issues, technical aspects like personalization, accessibility, etc. Are there other issues that should be covered? What questions should be addressed by the forum? Please send replies directly to me (and to this list as well if you think they are of more general interest). I will collate these and distribute them to the participants in the forum. Many thanks in advance for your help in this matter.

Trionfi.com - a project to establish Tarot History in Internet
By Huck, Section Websites
Posted on Sun Nov 14th, 2004 at 11:30:33 PM GMT
Trionfi.com has established an internet site with some 1000's of pages to the theme Tarot history with a stronger focus on 15th century.
Texts and pictures are written and collected by an international group of independent researchers, part of the activities are the administration of a virtual Tarot Museum based upon the collected picture material from the WWPCM (World Web Playing Card Museum) collected by Alexander Sukhorukow with picture material from 6 centuries and with more than 100,000 playing cards and 3600 decks (current state in Nov. 2004, constantly increasing).
The articles focus on very early playing card development and are projected to describe the current research state, constantly updated. The project - of course - is in development.

We would be enjoyed by your visit.
